Following last year's 'Clothes To Fall Apart In', The Off-Off-Off-Broadway Company returns to the Buxton Festival Fringe with 'THE SEXES' – a darkly amusing, gender-bending portrait of a marriage.
After years of playing lovers on stage, Lars (Laura Louise Baker) and Jaque's (Jaacq Hugo) off-stage marriage is tested when they find they are both vying for the same, gender-unspecified film role. A provocative blend of theatre, video and new writing, ‘The Sexes’ studies a man and a woman’s manipulation of their audiences and each other.
Formed by writer-director Polis Loizou and performance artist Jaacq Hugo whilst studying Film & Video Production at the University of Derby, The Off-Off-Off-Broadway Company sees the marriage of their mutual love of fine art, cinema and theatre. ‘The Sexes’ was written specifically for Jaacq and former classmate Laura Louise Baker, the new addition to a growing and ambitious young company.
